We are just under 6 months away from "National Change Your Password Day" on February 1st. Do you know what that means? You should probably change your passwords today if you haven't already in the last month. At a minimum you should change your main email account password.
That's right. It's time to change your passwords. The internet needs to start looking at this topic as if it were daylight savings time. We all know it is a pain in the ass but it truly is a necessary evil. People like to take this time to replace the batteries in their smoke alarms, change the filter in the furnace, or swap out their snow tires. Let's all add changing our passwords to the list.
There are many steps one may take to securing a brand new computer after purchase. An individual may buy into the retail store's up-sale of some security software anti-virus/firewall suite, or purchase extended service warranties to have their machine 'cleaned' when needed. They could also make sure their shiny new computer was properly configured to automatically install updates.
