Recently I have had a few discussions with multiple friends about time; or lack of it. My response has been
"Get the fuck up!"
For the last 8 years, I have been getting up between 5-6AM primarily to prepare for work. Prior to the end of September 2015, I had to be at work before 6:45 AM so my morning usually consisted of a workout, shower, and breakfast. Since the end of September my new schedule requires me to be to work by around 8AM but around that same time, I started waking between 4-5AM on a regular basis. The time I go to bed has consistently been around 10PM.
I'm not a morning or an evening person. I'm pretty much operating the same regardless of when I get up and when I go to bed. Is it important to get 8 hours of sleep? ABSOLUTELY. Does it need to happen every day? Absolutely not.
The conversation about finding time to accomplish tasks like, starting a business, writing blog posts, writing an iOS app and in general accomplish the many tasks required by life happens frequently in my circles at work, home, and social. The cliche - "We all have 24 hours in a day."
It really boils down to doing what needs to be done and finding time to do it. You can only give up some much time to the unnecessary things like TV, Facebook, and other time wasters. No time with family, friends, faith and fitness should be compromised at any time. Eight hours of sleep is important but going on 5-6 hours of sleep while you are trying to get things taken care of will not kill you.
I want 8 hours of sleep more than ever. I just know that it might be a little while until I have earned it.
Get up and grind. Pay yourself first with your time and efforts. You can sleep when you've completed what it is you want or need to do. But until you make the sacrifices and take the time, there is no bitching about not having time while you sit and watch TV, play video games, or browse Facebook for an hour.
I am guilty of all those things but I am also responsible for myself and what I do with my time. Take control of your time.
Get up and do one small thing for yourself every day.
Let me know below what you are working on that you don't feel there is enough time in the day for.
If you need some resources I know of a couple great books to help you work towards rising a little earlier.
