The Top of Ops: How I got here.

The Top of Ops: How I got here.

Few things have rattled me in my career more than recently becoming a 'team lead.' I’ve been fortunate, so to speak, to be able to pretty much just sit in the weeds and do work I enjoy and avoid all the orchestration that comes with management. Being 10+ years into my post-college life, I knew that I couldn’t always skirt around the additional responsibility that would inevitably be coming my way. People who take great pride in and have a passion for their everyday work, typically get sucked into leadership roles rather they like it or not.

At the writting of this post, I'm fairly certain no one reads these posts anyway. If you somehow stumbled upon this post or this excerpt, I appreciate you. I'm wiriting this post particually to just get started again and map out my plan for where content will belong from this point foward. In this post I share no goals for my future writing; I simply share my new direction and how I plan to syndicate what I beleive is worth sharing.

Collect and Organize Content with Feedly

Collect and Organize Content with Feedly

Feedly is a great tool for aggregating data into one location. It doesn't really matter what category of information you are trying to collect, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of blogs sharing information about whatever interests you. Keeping bookmark after bookmark in your browser is ridiculous. You'd spend more time waiting for the web pages to load than you would actually consuming the content.

Don't have your shit together? There's an app for that.

Don't have your shit together? There's an app for that.

It’s pretty simple to get overwhelmed with everything that life requires of us these days. I don’t know what it was like way back when, but I do remember just a decade ago things didn’t seem as complicated as they are now. That's not including the obvious responsibilities either.

Unlimited accounts for your favorite services

Unlimited accounts for your favorite services

Sometimes there's an opportunity to use a service that is free (nothing is ever free BTW) but you are limited to the number of 'features' the service offers in their free plan. For instance Buffer. Buffer is a social media sharing app that allows you to connect to social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. and schedule postings to go out at times...

Simple Calendar Sharing - Family, Friends, & Work

Staying organized with events and reminders across multiple accounts and contexts is very difficult. The busier people get and the more people take on, the harder it becomes. Especially if you are running a side gig or a busy entrepreneur not quite ready to take the leap and quit your full-time job.
This tutorial will help you create...

My First Post (for the 3rd time)

My First Post (for the 3rd time)

I did it again. I can't really tell you why yet, aside from the fact that I just haven't found my groove, 'flow', niche, or even myself honestly. As my domain is name is up for renewal again I realize that I purchased rosswickman.com at the end of 2012. I thought I was a pretty neat bigshot back then. My own name as a domain and just venturing into the wonderful world of entrepreneurialism.

I love what I do. Again

I love what I do. Again

I've been very fortunate in my life and career to get to do things that force me to learn or at the very least allow me the opportunity to learn. But... Like many people I've also have had stretches where I dreaded what I was doing, didn't feel like I was making enough of an impact, or feel like I was really moving forward.

Get paid mobile Apps for FREE

Get paid mobile Apps for FREE

We all love free stuff, especially when it originally comes at a cost. One of the best free things in the technology world today is quality mobile applications. The good ones always cost a few bucks and that few bucks can add up so here is a quick tip for both Android and Apple users to find and earn free downloads of those high-quality apps.

Blogging is so hard

Blogging is so hard

If you aren't a natural writer blogging is hard. Really hard actually. The downside of blogging is coming up with content frequently enough to keep readers engaged and not lose them the first time you miss your publish window or don't post for a little extra longer than usual.

Free Tools For Creating Online Presence

Free Tools For Creating Online Presence

Without free tools, services, and resource some of the most amazing content published online today wouldn't exist. I believe everyone should be able to have a place online to share their knowledge and build a following in their own corner of the internet. In this first official episode of the Technically Living Podcast, I go over the best free tools to get started creating online.

Google iOS Keyboard — Display poop emoji when you type poo

Google iOS Keyboard — Display poop emoji when you type poo

Maybe I am a little tardy to the party but the second we saw that Google had a custom iOS keyboard, we were on-board. It’s called Gboard. This thing is great! You can search from anywhere. You can send ridiculous gifs to anywhere you are sending a message. And not just any random gif, you get whatever you want whenever you want it. It is a wonderful beast.

So I might be onto something

So I might be onto something

At least I think I have something I could turn into something else. No one gets rich overnight. I never expected to with this new experiment I have been trying out but I am starting to see a little potential and have even been asked to talk about it at 1 Million Cups in Yankton on May 25th. As I write this I don't even know what I am going to speak about but if you have noticed I've released 2 games to the App Store(s) this month.

My New Ridiculously Addictive iOS Game

I'm venturing back into some old territory with mobile applications. I was recently given some insight back into the world of mobile development and I am experimenting with a couple things. Games for one as well as something else I plan on sharing with you all in the future. Here is my first published native application. This is a new experiment of mine and something I am crazy excited about. I have published a release to this iOS game to the Apple App Store and version 1.1 should be available for download as soon as you are reading this blog post. It can be a little addicting so be careful.

Websites are easy. The other stuff is hard.

Getting online today is easy. It's as simple as creating a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. You pick one of the many free providers and start dragging and dropping your content where you want it. It's really simple. I've always said anyone can have a website and everyone should. Here are some things to consider when getting started.

You MUST listen to this podcasts

You MUST listen to this podcasts

I have a hard enough time getting my friends and family to listen to, read, follow, watch or share the things that I recommend so trying to get a complete stranger to do the same is going to be even harder. Even if you’re not interested in the happenings of the Internet, digital marketing, or social media (hard to believe if you’ve found this) this single podcast episode will give you all you need to know to better understand and leave you wanting to know more. This episode really exuberates what THE HELL is going on online.

Webcam hacking hasn't been in the cyber security news sphere very much lately but that doesn't mean it's something that shouldn't still be a huge concern. This is still a major security risk. Protecting your personal information is one thing, but protecting your personal space and privacy is a completely different topic.

Learn how to stop using your out-dated email address

Remember the mid-to-late 90s when the internet started blowing up in homes across the nation, the days of dialing-in with a modem and tying up your phone line for hours after you receive the month's AOL disk, and having an email address ending in whatever Internet Service Provider (ISP) name you were using (i.e. @rapidnet.com, @aol.com, @compuserv.com)? Those were the days huh?

Something strange and it don't look good

Something strange and it don't look good

Has your computer all of the sudden start to act really weird? Does it seem like ghosts are making changes to your computer. Maybe you hear the fan running on your laptop at all hours. Maybe the date/time keeps changing at random. Worse yet, you notice the mouse randomly moving or programs randomly opening and you are starting to think you are going crazy.
